Oh, that's not my car. It was the only legacy there and I thought I'd get more shots of it then the other cars. It was funky.

You sure it was compressor surge? The non-stock exhaust makes me think there's lots of other non-stock goodies on the car. The hood pins, and the radiator cooling scoop reinforce that.

What sounds like compressor surge from the outside, might actually be an external wastegate. Was he fast?

No, he wasn't fast. I took a peep into the hood scoop that was facing the driver and saw a but load of hoses going everywhere. My educated guess was that he had a cone filter on there as well as some sort of intercooler without a DV or BOV. I've done the cone filter thing before I put in my newer engine and it sounded just like that.

PS- I'm going to the next event on Feb 6th and I'll ask him to pop his hood.

That ice race looks cool - in any case you had more ice&snow than we did last weekend (15.jan).
It was supporsed to be a snow rally race (slalom), but winter is not generous with snow this year... so they snowed up piece of land next to air strip, watered it and hoped for the best; the track was to soft for using spikes - so pro racers didn't drive at all; that gave chance us - daily drivers to have some fun;
