Here is the electrical puzzle of the centry...

Post by snowjob »

As most of you know, I'm doing a jdm ej20t swap(very slowly) I only get to work on it about 2 days a month. Anyway, the engine is in, the wiring is done,,, but I can't get my fans to stop ....

Here is what I know for sure

1. I turn the key to the On position and the fans come on and don't shut off. I've pulled the pin for the fans on the ecu and they stop, so I know the ecu is telling the fans to turn on. So lets go back from thier, What would tell the ecu to turn the fans on? coolant sensor?

2. The ecu is throwing an Atmospheric pressure sensor and MAF sensor malfunction.

The maf, I think is faulty, i'll swap it with my spare, but I don't know what or where the Atmospheric pressure sensor is, any help with any of these three would be great.

Thanks Everyone.

I am not possitive but if your d-check plug is plugged in then the fan will constantly run. At least mine does so check that. The atomspheric presure sensor is near the boost control soleniod. It is right above it and it has a small round air filter on it. I hope this is right and can help but if not it was worth a try.

D-check should make the fans cycle on and off, not run continuously.

But if the air conditioning is on, the fans will run continuously. Is your A/C or defrost on?

The "atmospheric pressure sensor" code is for non-turbos. Code 45 on turbos refers to the whole pressure sensing deal -- both the pressure sensor and the pressure exchange solenoid. Like irishsetter says, they're both mounted right by the boost control solenoid, on the right strut tower, at least on stock cars. The brown cylinder with the filter is actually the pressure exchange solenoid, and the pressure sensor is a little black dealie underneath:

Did you wire in the pressure sensing stuff?

Does the engine run?

I might be getting closer....but help

Ok, here's the update,
I pulled out the dash again, just to make sure I had connected everything, and yes I had.
The defrost and AC are turned off, I replaced the MAF sensor and am still throwing a code for it, not quite sure why, but I think I may have wired the coolant sensor incorrectly,
On the coolant rail(the bar under the intake manifold) where the sensor sits, their are two sensors, one has two wires entering it and the other has just one that is cliped on to it. Which one is the coolant sensor that goes to the ECU?? and second question, how can I tell if they are working correctly?
What should I be testing for. If I put a multimeter to the pin that is supposed to be for coolant sensor, i'm getting an open circuit.
Thanks for any responces.

If it was the temp sender, wouldn't pulling the wire turn off the fan?
