Search turned up that they aren't interchangeable. Why exactly is that, are they phyiscally different, and how so?
Thanks

Are you talking about the same year cars & same drivetrain....or different years?
As long as they are both AWD and from the same range of years 90-91 and 92-94.....you should be able to use them.
The wagon struts will typically have a higher damping rate, but that really won't keep you from running them.

Thanks, I was actually tryin to figure out if wrx sedan struts will work on a 91 wagon. Basically what I want to know is if the bottom two holes will line up, and if the piston comes up to the same place.

hmmm.....I think they will....I know the top mounts are different in the rear for the wrx sedans, but the shaft on the strut still is threaded the same.

check out the spring rates. physically fitting is a far cry from an improvement.

I'm not actually using the springs, just the struts with coilover sleeves and stock topmounts. So the strut body should fit?

I believe the strut body is identical front to rear. If this is the case, you might consider putting the front struts in back and vice versa.

The front and rear strut bodies are different, and are not interchangeable.
