Ok, I found a broken 92 rear taillight, took it apart and made reflectors for the side markers.

I also put on a good set of 92 rears.

SO NO AMBER FOR ME!

( putting on flame suit) Flame away!!

Looks great! I don't think you'll get many flames here. There not altezza-style tails, they're OEM tails, so don't even worry about it.

Yeah, dude. As long as you've got amber bulbs in there, it's not rice at all. After all, I took the amber lenses out of my car too. XD It looks awesome.

Very cool, man.

Looks good. I always have been kinda partial to '92 rears anyways. ;)

I think you guys all missed what he did :). He took the plastic out of the 92 tail light, cut it to the shape of the sidemarker and used that instead of the orange piece that is in the sidemarker. So when it's off it's clear, and when lit it is amber. I don't know if that's a good thing or not. I thought the sidemarker had to reflect amber when light was shined upon it, and AFAIK the turn signals aren't reflective.

Since the side marker lights only show the side of the car and are not turn signal wired, I did not think there would be an issue in changing out the lenses. But yes, the original lenses have the reflective piece in them. Since most side marker lights don't reflect anyway (aka VW, and all aftermarket ones) I went with it.

It's not about the actual side marker being reflective. there has to be something mounted infront of the rear wheel that reflects amber when light is shown upon it. Those VW's you were looking at had some reflective piece near the front corner. And aftermarket stuff doesn't have to conform to much if any standards so long as it says something about the product only to be used for offroad vehicles.

Hmm, I did not notice a reflective piece- I might have to go look now at the VW. True true on the off road use only. I will have to go check my Maxima too- I replaced the corner lights to clear and am wondering if they have reflectors in those.
