hey, new to the site, new to subarus. and i found a awd turbo legacy that i might get. and i was wondering if the aftermarket makes parts for these cars? or are most of the performance mods you guys go homemade? and these cars can be made fast right? im sure the turbo motor has potential. and what are the specs on the car? motor tranny, etc???

Well welcome to legacy central, there are some aftermarket turbos available for the legacy but not many other aftermarket parts. Some people go with wrx intercoolers that require a little massaging of the firewall with a hammer. The cars can be made fast but it takes a little money unless your good at bargain hunting. I dunno what you want by specs.

You can raid the Suby parts bin for quite a lot of stuff, and you can use aftermarket parts for other Suby's pretty easliy.

specs like hp, liters, sohc or dohc, etc. so some wrx parts fit. what about intake and exhaust, or basic bolt ons in general?

Welcome!

In terms of specs. legacycentral.org has all of that info in the library section I believe. As some people have mentioned earlier, many other Subaru parts fit onto the Legacy including but not limited to: downpipes, brakes, wheels, struts, springs, strut braces, intercoolers, turbochargers and some interior pieces. As far as I know there are no intakes made for 91-94 Legacy SS but custom parts can always be made.

In terms of an exhaust, most any WRX downpipe will bolt onto the existing turbo, but a custom midpipe and muffler need to be added too. All in all its generally not more expensive then an aftermarket exhaust a WRX owner might buy. There is a company whose name has slipped my mind, that makes a beautiful turbo-back exhaust specially for the SS but its pricey, some members here are running it. Check out legacycentral or read around here some for specs.

The above mentioned TBE is the C.E.S. Racing system and they are absolutely amazing. They are also expensive. A full stainless steel system will run between $1,100 and $1,800 depending on the system. I for one think they're worth it.

Most suspension parts are interchangeable. Pulleys, drivetrain (clutch, flywheel) from the WRX can be swapped over, tranny and engine mounts, turbos, wheels, ect.. There's really quite a bit out there that'll work with our cars but some of it just takes a little massaging to work.

They're great cars, buy it, you won't be sorry.

That's phil, he's dumped ALOT of money into his turbo, but it's definitely a good alternative to a wrx.

as far as specs. www.edmunds.com

do searches, you'll find all the information you're looking for
