just found out why my SS shifter is so sloppy.
it has no centering spring, its gone, not there, somwhere else.
plus the front plastic bushings are so deteriorated they might as well not be there.
so i ordered the spring since it was a whopping 1.50, but the bushings are 24 for the set so i didnt get them today.
are there any upgrades for those. they are the 2 farthest forward bushings that are located where the shifter attaches to the trans.
why my shifter is sloppy

I made a new one out of JB weld. I put a bunch in the hole on the shift rod thing, centered up the sleeve in it, let it dry, pounded the sleeve out, sanded a little JB weld out of the hole so it wouldnt be so tight, put plenty of grease in there, presto! solid bushing. very smooth and no play. should be a lot more durable then whatever the stocker was, sure feels a lot better, and was super cheap. you can also get the big poly bushing off of ebay for 9.99, search for shifter bushing. plastic supply places also have a lot of sizes of round stock if you feel like machining your own.
