I'm not a huge performance guy, so I decided I wanted something newer, more luxurious, nice looking, and still reasonably fun to drive. I bought this.
It's a '98 Subaru Legacy 2.5GT. 2.5l boxer engine mated to a 5-spd AWD tranny. The car had 90k miles on it. Here are some more pictures. My old Legacy has already been sold, and someone's flying out to look at the T-Bird (and hopefully pick it up) on Saturday.
The EJ25 is slightly more powerful than my old EJ22t (165hp compared to 160) but the car feels a tiny bit slower than my old turbo. I don't know what either car weighed, but it's only a small difference.
It's interesting to see the difference in performance between the two cars. The 2.5 feels torqueier, while the turbo felt faster (after the turbo kicked in).
Overall, I'm really happy with my purchase. What do you guys think?

No mods really planned. I might do some suspension work, but for the most part, I want a nice reliable ride

I hear those early EJ25s had head gasket issues, any of that in the car's history?
No. That's my biggest worry, since it's had no HG issues to date. I'm basically taking a gamble

Not noticably. My commute (from Kirkland to Redmond) is all backroads. I've been getting a consistant 21mpg. The TLeg got about 18... I think. There's a difference, but not a big one. The big difference is the price between 87 octane and 92 octane
Of course I'll be there... and I plan on sleeping in it. It's been a while since I slept in my Subaru... and sadly, this time I won't have the company of a lovely young lady like last time
