I have just recently bought a 1991 GT legacy. I what to get some ideas on what mods to do in the turbo department, as this the 1st turbo sub I have owned.
Right now I am planning to instal a boost tap and raise the boost to around the 14-15psi level and may be remove the cats. I have replaced the factory air filter with a pod filter.
I guess I want to know best to go about this whole set up and if it is worth me replacing the factory BOV with a bigger one as the boost if up a bit?

any help you guys have would be great

The only thing you mentioned that isn't a bad idea is to remove the cats.

...And removing the cats makes mother earth hate you.

Hey, when he says 'boost tap' uh, what does he mean?

Sounds like a bleeder valve to me.

I'd say the exhaust is a good place to start. I wouldn't raise the boost untill you get an intercooler on there.

I assume your cats weren't in good condition then. It's impossible for a catless system to be cleaner than a catted system.

Wouldn't he hit fuel cut before his 14-15 psi?

depends on where the EJ20G ECU cuts fuel.

true. I was thinking EJ22T for some reason.

That means he already has an AWIC, doesn't it?

Possibly, considering he says he's got the GT badging.. means overseas.

I was wondering if i would have fuel cut issues when rasing the boost levels. I guess I will give it a shot and see what happens. If it does create an issue is there a way to get around the fuel cut out?
by the way I am in NZ and the the car is a jap-import thats why its got a GT badge. I am not quite sure but I think it is the same basic car as the RS legacy but a wagon with a lit bit smaller turbo set up.

Sounds good, do the exhaust, raise the boost a little.

Just so you know we got a very different Legacy turbo engine than the rest of the world. It's a 2.2L with a very small turbo and no intercooler.

Try looking around here: http://www.rslibertyclub.org/forums/
for more info about the jap/aus spec cars. Not that you're not welcome here. :)
