as some people know cobb tunning is in utah now as am i.
so today at autox's i was talking to a nissan guy who happens to be good friends with some of the people who work there. now he being a nissan guy has the tuning option of making new tunes with a romulator and some chips. now he didnt go into extreme detail about how that works, maybe some of you guys out there would know better but suposedly if the code to the ecu is cracked you can do this to the stock ecu's allowing you to tune for less than 300 dollars (the price of a romulator, clable and chips).
that said, word on the street is that the code to the ecu is almost cracked by cobb and that we will have this option as soon as it is cracked. suposedly 2.2t ecu's have become popular with swaped gc's including one belonging to one of their employees, who happened to put 440's in his car and his ecu actualy adapted to them.
so do you guys think of this as a viable option???
so what would you guys think about this. (em related)

If you hear cobb has cracked the ECU, let us know.....I won't hold my breath too long......they like to work on things for a while. A good example is their intake for the 2001 impreza RS with the MAF sensor. A buddy with one just hacked it up and fitted it on his RS. Cobb eventually did roughly the same thing.....a long while later.

see i wasnt even expecting this to even be happening because just a year ago i was at the cobb meet and their programer said it would be too complicated to even look at our ecu.
well a while back he quit and they took on a few more programers. then when the guy with the swapped gc wagon using our ecu started working there they seemed to take a little intrest in it. and a month or 2 ago, and i mentioned it in the thread steve pointed out, the guy with the wagon said trey was looking more and more into the ecu, all corelating into this post. i know they drag their feet but i think if they could do it, it would be a brilant and in form with all the things we do around here, cheap.

Yeah, I hope they do it too....it'd provide another option to tune

I wrote them hoping this would help direct me with my Impreza ej22t swap. It turns out the guys name is noah and he is just using the ECU from our motors (your cars) to run his EJ20G motor that he swapped in he didn't know anything about breaking the code to the ECU, and said there is no way to tune the thing. I was bummed
see thats the thing though. noah has told me that trey has already taken the info off the ecu and has reburned a chip with the stock info. his ecu is freakish though, he is running 440's on that ecu with no problems. he just said it adapted.
the info i posted was from talking to another one of our racing buddies.
in fact noah's exact quote to me in the big slc thread was

Trey Cobb already pulled all the info off of my ECU (1994 turbo Legacy) and figured out where most of the maps are and how they relate to each other. He did that monthes ago and we actually did burn a chip for my car that has all the stock info on it just to make sure things are working properly. So I'm running on a new chip with stock info. So Trey is either at the point or if given a few days could be at the point where he could tune our cars but he just doesn't have any time for side projects so I don't know if the tune will happen or not.
