Clicking noise from front left hub

Post by Mr.Pessimist »

This has been going on for quite some time now, I just havent had a chance to get it posted.

It doesn't seem to be affecting the drivability of the car but I get worried everytime I hear it.

The loud clicking noise comes from the front left wheel assembly almost everytime I hit a bump in the road. I usually can only hear it when my window is down but its fairly loud. It sounds like guns being cocked, to try and help you hear it in your head, like a metal latching sound.

I took my car in and had a new axle put in after I started hearing this noise figuring that it was the CV joint. The clicking noise still persists. It does not click when I'm driving on smooth pavement, but it doest click momentarily when I hit a patch of rough pavment.

Any ideas??

Well, I figured that the guy who replaced the axle, CV boot, etc... would have taken a look at that. I told him about the noise and he said that he took it for a drive and didnt hear anything.

Oh, and I do trust this guy too...he's been our family suspension/alignment guy for years.

So, I'm still at a loss...

I get a large clicking sound from the front right, and rear left tire area on really tight corners, (40-60mph) and an AWFULL shudder as well in high speed corners(80-100mph).. our mall parking lot is huge so i've tried..

And on a seperate note:IF that was anybody here in the L.V mall in an STI.. and a annoying legacy kept driffting around you 6 to 7 times at 60-80mph while you pointed out my awfull understeer and body roll to your girl freind.. i'm sorry i couldn't help my self.. i love taunting the young cars..damb clicking/clunking sound..

LOL...

I dont think anyone here has an STI, but if it was me I would find it quite amusing. Both the suspension and that you were taunting me.

Oh, and thanks for the thought ciper, I'll have to check that strut bolt out.
