Good news for those of us wanting a TMIC

Post by greg donovan »

in this thread:

http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=813071

it appears that the new 06 WRX will be using the shorter/wider TMIC. it also appears that these guys do not want that one and they will be ditching it. good news for us. hopefully the NASIOC classifieds will be full of these next spring.

Does that thread imply that a Forester XT intercooler would work for us?

that has been talked about here before. i think it does imply that. they havent been used as they arent as readily available as used WRX ones yet. most FXT owners arent power mad modders.

the ic appears to not sit as close to the firewall as the 02-05 WRX TMIC. and it appears to be wider.

the new one is more like this:

_______________
|||||||||||||||||||||||
|||||||||||||||||||||||

while the old one is more like this:
___________
|
|
|__________|

i know that is a pretty crude exaggeration but i think you get the idea.

Hmm, I kinda like the idea of a "TR" edition.... But it's not what I would have thought. I want an EVO RS more than a WRX TR.

I actually like the front end more and more as I look at it, but this had BETTER be an option on the STi....

It looks like such an after thought. The more I see newer Subarus The more I think I might keep my 02..........

Good news about the TMIC for the not too power crazy.

we saw an 06 on the lot at carter on sunday(it had come in the day before)

I must say, it does look better in person than it does in the photos, but it still isn't anywhere near as visually appealing as the gc platform

The main reason for the intercooler being different is that in 06, the WRX basically gets the complete FXT engine. That's right, it's a 2.5 now. Hopefully the tranny is stronger too :)
