Pressure exchange solenoid?

Post by Legacy777 »

I'm assuming this is the pressure exchange solenoid...correct?

Also, I'm assuming the two black plastic pieces were supposed to be nipples to connect hoses to......but are broken.

Yes indeedy do.

The nipple that was pointing upwards was supposed to go to the pressure sensor, and the nipple that was pointing to the side was supposed to have a filter on it:

The same solenoid is on lots of NA 1st-gen Imprezas and 2nd-gen Legacies.

Cool, that's good to know. Looks like I'll have to find another one.

Is all the vacuum hose associated with those sensors the same diameter? I'd like to replace it all with silicone hose.

This will answer all your questions about vacuum hose diameters:

If you don't mind having to figure out mounting, you can use pretty much any 3-way solenoid in place of the pressure exchange solenoid. Like, you could use the Chrysler baro-read solenoid described in the link in the post above, even if you stick with the stock pressure sensor.
