So I have some Corbeau CR1 seats (http://www.corbeau.com/ the blue one with the black 4 point ) and I was wondering about harness mounting options. I have a 4-point harness right now, and I just read a bunch of saftey stuff from the Installation instructions from here http://www.safedrives.com/proddetail.as ... it6&cat=53
I am now thinking about picking up some 5 points or 6 points.
Question 1: Would the best way to mount my 4-points at the moment be the usuall lap bolt area and the back seat seatbelt mounts for the shoulders??
Question 2: 5 or 6 point?
Question 3: If I got a 5 or 6 point, where would I mount the crotch straps?
Question 4: how much $ does a proper roll cage go for?? and or what kinda options do I have, like full roll cage, just a roll bar thing??

#1) Don't mount the shoulders. There is no safe place to do so without a harness bar. I thought about it. It won't work. All SFI Cert. harnesses that I looked into say you should have no more than 3 to 4" of slack between the seat and the loop bar. The harness straps (good ones), are designed to stretch 20% of their length. This is to cushion you in an impact. If you have 5 feet of strap, your going to stretch a good ways.
2) I have a 6-point. Reason? It's easier to mount a 6-point. Plus, it distributes the load to more places, which is safer.
3) I'll be mounting my crotch straps to the body at the seat bracket bolt. Same place my lap-belts will be anchored.
4) Expect around $1000 for a 4-point roll bar (+/- $200 depending on the builder). A full 6 or 8 point will run you significantly more, around $1600 ish. Do NOT cheap out on a cage. There are things that make cages good, and things that make them bad. Don't go to some guy who says "yea, I'll make you a cage". Go to someone who does it for their job.
What 4-point are you using? If it's not an SFI certified harness, I wouldn't recomend using it.
I've got a 3" G-ForceRacing Camlock 6-point harness. It's gangster, yo.

Man do I not have enough money for a roll bar. I have Weapon-R 4 point something or other, aircraft quality components but.....
, which is why im looking into something SFI certified, I was looking at the same one you have.
Looks like its time for me to save up, In the mean time I'll just have to stay away from rollovers or deadly front end collisions.
I don't autocross or race or anything, I just like being glued to my seat, and figure harnesses would be safer than normal seatbelts.

The harness you have is probably less safe than riding around on a milk crate. Get rid of it.
Also, take out your harness if you don't have a bar. You are asking for trouble.

Save your $$ and get a roll bar or cage. You will be SO much safer. Just make sure you use a lot of padding.
Safe Drives has a Custom Cages full roll cage kits for $979 delivered from the UK.

i have a corbeau 3 point 2 inch with doubble releace. i dont know if its sfi aproved but i love it. and its mounted safe. none of that below 45 degrees nonsense. i bloted it to the stock rear seat belt position.
as for not having it bolted far back. if this were the case why does sparco sell 48 inch shoulder strap extentions for their 5 and 6 points???
oh i scored some sparco pads for em at a meet too.
