Perrin RSB

Post by jake15 »

so i recently got a used perrin RSB/mounts/endlinks and i put them on my car a couple days ago. the car feels so much more sure/connected in turns now, i dont think i can ever drive a stock car again :D anyways, here is a general write up on how to "modify" the car to make the bar work (i would do the endlinks install and stuff, but i'm using a 99 GT rear xmember and lateral links, so yeah.... i can't help you there)

-the only pictures i have are of when i started installing the new stuff on the car.-

*unbolt you stock sway bar, this is pretty straight-forward, there is 2 bolts on the rubber bushing bracket thing and the endlink bolts.

*remove the swaybar (and endlinks if you have replacements)

*since you HAVE to use the perrin swaybar mounts to make the bar work i had to remove the stock swaybar mounts, there is 4 bolts that hold them on (2 on each mount), and one of the bolts is hard to get to (gas lines are in the way, so bend those out of the way a little bit)

*once you remove the mounts there is alot of undercoating left in under them, so you need to scrape that off as best you can.

* bolt the new perrin swaybar mounts on the car just like the stock mounts

* to make the perrin bar fit i had to cut a part of the car (its a lift point i dont use under the spare tire well, so i'm not worried about it) i used a die grinder for it, it worked great.

* next i put the bar on the car. the perrin bar comes with all the hardware (at least the used one i bought did) the rubber bushing bracket thing with this bar has 4 bolts/nuts instead of a slide in metal tab and 2 bolts. so put those on and connect the endlinks. you should be done after this. this is what the rear should look like now.

the bar comes about a 1/2 inch away from the tires, but so far it hasnt rubbed.

and that should be all you need to know to install a perrin RSB

i also got a whiteline 22mm front bar, but its for an NA car and it hits the front xmember sometimes... so i'm still trying to decide what i'm going to do about that.
