I like doughnuts, ( but only with my coffee)

OK, so the subaru(s) were still running with the fake spare tire.
So I did the math and figured out the smallest I could get and still feel comfortable with it. Since I am running the 205/55/16's from the WRX, I went with 195/65/15 So I took out the box and the doughnut and BAM- It fit with room to spare. I figure I can get the 205/55/16 in there and still have the floor level.

SO, for those who did not already know, you can get a full-size spare in the back.

I couldn't fit a WRX wheel and tire under the cargo tray in my car. I definately couldn't fit one of my 17's in there.

But the WRX and the SS have the same size spare tire. So if it's good enough for Subaru Engineers, it is good enough for me :)

I like keeping shit in my "trunk" box

Stuff that normall resides in there is window cleaner, half quart of whatever oil I have in the engine at the time, a rag for checking oil level, Meguiar's quick detailers, and a microfiber

That is why I went with the full-size spare. You end up losing the black box, but I never used mine anyway.

Our differentials are viscous coupling. They work by noticing a rotational difference between the front/back or for the rear diff - side to side. That means if you have a smaller tire than the rest you are forcing a rotational difference and causing the diff to work full time to try and even out this difference. Basically you shear your viscous working fluid until it's no good and the diff quits working.

I'm FWD so I don't really care about the size of my spare :), but I keep on my old 14" steelies since I just don't like donuts.
