insalling a pop up sun roof in a 90 legacy?

is there a certain place the sunroof needs to be so it won't weakin anything? also does anyone know the cost of installing one?

The computer ate my original long response, but basically, you want to size it so that it fits forward of the B-pillars as there's a lateral support that connects them across the roof. Ahead of it is pretty much just sheet metal. I had them make mine as wide as they could fit and as far forward to make it as deep as possible. The brand is SFC and I've never had an issue in 7 years. Any squeaks in the car have nothing to do with the sunroof except sometimes over extreme broken pavement when the seal is relatively dry and it's minimal (especially being drowned out by the rest of the symphony of old car pain). The cost was about $150 installed, I think, the small size made it cheaper and also easier to handle when popping out the panel in the summer. I actually like it a little more than the OEM power unit in my Mazda 3 as it pops open for venting much higher, although the power retraction of the Mazda's is nicer than having a glass panel flying back and forth on the rear floor when I drive the Subaru with the roof off.

yes usually there is a small size and a large size available.

if they are basically the same as they were some years ago, the small size will definitely fit. The large size tends to only fit in cars with pretty huge roof areas like Volvos and a few others.

bewteeen my bro and myself we have installed about 6 of these for ourselves and friends, without problems. no leaks ever

when cutting the hole, make sure you don't snag the headliner with the jigsaw, its easier to drill some small holes, poke through with a needle to puncture the headliner, and then template and pre-cut the headliner carefully to get it out of the way

If you do a search for member's cars or Forester 5-star wheel pics, you'll see mine with the roof popped open, but I don't have any close ups.
