My question is for anyone who has made this ej22 w/25sohc frankenstien engine. I was wondering if you can use the stock turbo set up, not a custom turbo kit, with these heads? thanks

Don't the EJ25 SOHC heads have single-port exhaust flanges? If they do, then the factory turbo exhaust manifolds won't bolt up.

No, all the EJ25 heads had the dual port exhaust flanges.

they used single ports on the late 2.2s and the EZ30 heads( and all EA stuff) but not the 2.5Ls.

Max,
The problem with that is the coolant and the oil for the turbo. I will have to look and see if there are bosses there that can be tapped. I know there are on the DOHC heads...

Isn't that what mark Ringleman or is running in his impreza L?

Ringelman runs a custom turbo setup, as does Xephyr, who now uses those heads...

I am building a ej22t/w 2.5dohc heads. Oil and water won't be a problem, i mean only a little moding for oil(there is an pluged oil out near the back of the engine) and the water jackets almost lineup but still should flow good.

Not sure about much else.......
but i have figured that much out.

The easiest is probably just the EJ22t w/ wrx heads because they already have the coolant lines. How about setting up a seperate oil system for the turbo? And I am mainly worried about how far the cam sticks the back and would interfere with where the turbo sits in the stock setup.

i think that some of the companies that sell turbo kits for 2.5na motors actually have a different valve cover that has a oil line tapped into it for the turbo. You might try talking to one of them and see if you couldnt just buy the cover from them.....

north american subaru cars.

1. 2.0l wrx heads
2. 2.5l wrx heads
3. 2.5l sti heads
4. 2.5l legacyturbo heads
5. 2.5l forster turbo heads

so i have 5 sets of cars that i can bolt on these heads with out totaly customizing everything, now which heads should i get that will make my car faster. i would also need to get the intake manifold also from the car i pick with the heads right ?
