rebuilt sweybar endlinks work great and cheap!!

Post by Calgaryturbo »

I cut the worn out factory buchings out of my front and rear endlinks. Went to the parts store and got some generic hard rubber bushings and forced them in . They are the black "HELP" ones at Canadian Tire here in Canada. Came in two sizes and 3$ for 4 I think. I used some washers and cut a few of the bushings in half to fill up the endlink more. Put on the washers and bolted everything back together. Cost me about 20$ and a couple hours. Before I did this the car had lots of body roll and clicked over every bump. Now it handles way better and no clicking. The suspension feels stiffer and body roll was greatly reduced. Would recomend this to anyone who has worn out factory links and is low on funds. I love cheap fixes that work!!!

Replacement OEM bushings from Saunder's Subaru in Colwood cost me about $10

It's good to see another Islander, BTW

did you have trouble getting them in? The trouble I had getting the old bushings out made me think It would be almost imposible to get new stock ones in>I am concidering upgrading them to poly but am not sure if it will make much difference.

Nice to see the gas prices going down out here eh!!

Yea! Just filled up with 91 Octane at 1.10

It was a BITCH to get them in. Lots of silicon lube and a bigass quickgrip is my only advice

Splinter, do you have a part number for the replacement endlink bushings you got from the subaru dealership? $10 sounds more like it for refreshing some endlinks.

I called the stealership here and they didn't list the endlink bushings. Just the whole link.
I would just buy the energy bushings and some extra washers and slap her back together. They will end up being better than stock because of the harder polyurathane. The handeling on my wagon is so much better now. I will soon do the control arm bushings also.

I bought the Energy generic bushings and used four of them on my 91 (straight drop links, not WRX style C links). I think I have four left over if anyone wants them. Lets say $10 including shipping in the USA, Pay Pal CASH only. First EMAIL (not PM) gets 'em.
