My friend called me yesterday to tell me this, and my jaw hit the floor.

I read this yesterday and was amazed at how upset it made me. I am still stunned. Last I had heard he was doing better. I was hoping to see him back in the WRC, maybe Subaru (so they could have an effective second driver) even, in another year or so. I sent condolences on his website.

Bummer. I watched an old episode of Top Gear from 1991 last night when he was still driving in a one-make series...and doing very well at it.
