Replaced timing belt, still no spark!

Finally finished replacing the broken timing belt on my 91 Legacy non-turbo 2.2, upon inspection while turning over the engine I have found that I still have no spark! If I have power to the coil does that mean the coil is bad?

And you checked your engine codes and got nothing correct?

Have you tested the coil pack's resistance? It's not a 'gaurenteed to work if it checks out' test but it'll tell you if something is definately wrong with it.

I am tracking down a coil for it now.If I am getting power off the lead going into the coil using a test light my guess is the power stops there,never getting to the plugs. What do you think Skid? Found the plug for checking computer codes on the car but not sure what to look for or even how to scan.Do I need to purchase a scanning device? Thanks

to scan for codes, plug the two black connectors together (the ones bundled with the two green connectors), and turn the key to the on position. the check engine light will then flash the codes out. long flashes for the 10's place and short flashes for the 1's place. there is about a 1 second pause between codes. for example, code 22 would be 2 long flashes and 2 short flashes.

What kind of test light are you using? When you say you are getting power to the coil, how do you mean? Are you checking that ignitor is triggering the coil pack? I had trouble checking the ignitor myself, my LED just didn't quite have a short enough response time . But if you are getting a good coil pack, that will tell you whether or not it was your coil pack.

Checking the codes should tell you whether or not it's a sensor, and if it's not a sensor or the coil pack the next step would be the ignitor (let me know if you can't find one locally and end up needing to try it)

OK Lee,thanks! I was just using a regular snap on test light to see if I had a current from the plug going into the coil pack when the key is on. Hopefully today I will check my codes and determine what I will be needing to replace.

The codes should tell you this, but are you sure the CAS is plugged in? If the coil has power, but is not getting the 'fire' signal from the ECU obviously you won't get spark.

Its been a while, but don't you have to remove the Cam angle sensor to replace one of the cam seals or water pump?

Are your injectors firing? I assume these are triggered by the ECU based on the same signal as the spark is based on.
