Reverse lights

Post by MY92 »

Ok, I have checked my reverse lights up to the plug that goes to the gearbox. If I cross the wires there they light up, so I'm assuming it is the reverse sensor in the gearbox.

Does anyone know how much drama it is to change it? Hopefully I can just unbolt it and bolt in a new one?

Yeah, you should be able to remove the old sensor and put in the new one.

Yep. I think it's a 19mm. Use an open ended wrench.

It's easier to do if you unplug the sensor first and remove the clip from the top of the transmission. It's easier to turn and get it off.

To do this, drive around for a while, get the transmission warm. Then let the car sit for a while so the transmission fluid can settle. Then just pull the sensor and replace it. THIS is probably the easiest car maintainence gets.
