4wd
plain n simple mine doesnt work...never has since i bought the car for $500. A buddy of mine says its some type of coupling in the trans or something like that. i honestly know nothing about a transmission. he says he can weld it and it will be back in business...personal opinions??
your friend is crazy.
It is most likely the clutch packs stuck, which means they are probably mostly burned up.
Not cheap to fix, unless you can do it yourself, which I doubt the way you have spoken.
It requires the removal of the rear differential, and replacing the friction clutches/drive clutches inside it, as well as replacing some seals etc.
I will be posting pictures of this process later this month.
automatic, right?

If you put the fuse in, the computer makes it be Front Wheel drive only.
It is to be put in for testing purpose only.
Take the fuse out and check the AWD to back.
If the fuse is not in. the AWD is supposed to work, otherwise the clutch packs are bad, or it could be the duty solenoid.

When you put the fuse in, the car acts like a FWD car. Take the fuse out, and it's AWD again. If you floor it in loose gravel and only front wheels spin, your AWD is messed up. It could be one of two things; Clutch Packs burned out, or duty solenoid C failure.

Here is something you need to remember. Your Auto AWD has a 90% (front) 10% (rear) torque split.
Are you sure it's not working?
If you put your vehicle in 1st or 2nd the torque split will be 50/50.
Find a friend, some sand or loose gravel, drop it into second and gun it. Ask your friend to tell where the stuff shoult out from...or just put it on jackstand.
