Rotating picture submissions

Ok, so most of you have noticed the rotating images in the top left corner. It's been suggested that we allow people to submit personal car images for inclusion in this rotation. I'm going to give it a try, and the first 25 people to post their images to this thread will get put into the rotation.

Here are the rules:

1) jpegs only, no .gifs
2) Image dimensions no larger than 250w x 130h
2) Image size no more than 15kb
4) Your name/nick in the bottom left or right of the image
5) Image does not have to be a Legacy (but c'mon)

The first 25 images to meet these requirements by whenever will be put into the rotation.

Running tally of qualified entries:
  • 1)Image
    2)Image
    3)Image
    4)Image
    5)Image
    6)Image

I clarified the first post. I'd like images of personal cars for inclusion into the rotation.

jamal: if you can send me copies of those images, non-personalized, I'll include them as well.

smartDark is the default theme, so it's the most used one. It's what I do any changes on, so i make no guarantee that other modifications will make their way to other themes.

15kb is really small, can you bump it up to like 20 or 25k?

okay well that makes a lot more sense. Editing my post.

All of the current images but one are 15kb and below, with half of them smaller than 10kb, so that's what I'm basing that off. They don't need to be high quality, so it shouldn't be a problem to get them down.

It might be a good idea to post up multiple versions, one at about 15kb and one between 20-25kb, so we can judge whether or not it's arguably superior.

All the ones I made were at between 65-75 quality in photoshop, which is about as high of quality and you can get while "saving for web." I think it looks fine. For comparison, here's my 15k image compared to one saved at "maximum quality," which works out to be 52k. I can't see much of a difference.

Is that a promise? :)

Ah, if you use "save for web" instead of "save as" it makes it smaller. Wierd. Anyway, thanks and nm about the 15kb.

Does it have to be a Legacy? :P

Yeah.....I played around with it, and save for web is definitely the way to go. Since I'm rather anal....here's differences between 15kb & 20kb under normal saving, and then by saving for the web.

BTW....I need some help choosing what pic I should use :P

15kb saved normally
they look like poo

Here's mine. If someone could add my posting name at the bottom I'd much appreciate it. Paint & Picasa aren't cutting it.
:smt100

Or if someone wants to make a better resize of it, I'd be happy to send them the original.

c'mon Nick, read all of the requirements...245x184 is a bit tall. The image will also be smaller in kb if you can trim it down to x130

Brat4by4: link to the original and I'm sure someone can help you out.

c'mon Nick...151 height is still 21 more than the maximum...

Josh: I'd go for #2, then #3.
