wrx speakers in original speaker spots?

Post by Busdriver »

WRX upgraded speakers (front, rears, and tweeters)
will they fit into the wagon speakerpods without modification to the pods?

Free bump Busdriver :)

Can anyone confirm this?

My ICE situation, while never impressive, is downright dire right now. My head unit is about done for (only plays CDs when it wants to), and both my front speakers are blown, with my rears on their way out.

I'd rather just get a good deal on WRX stuff, and bolt it all in without spacers or any of that stuff.

So will it work?

I'm gonna bump up an old thread, cause I've searched around and haven't found anyone who has installed them.

There is a set on Ebay cheap right now.I'd like to get them if anyone can confirm the info for me also.

FYI, stock speakers arent an upgrade unless you have no speakers.

Do yourself a favor and buy a decent set of coaxials and a small amp.

A set of 6.5" coaxials from polk is like $60. You can get a small used amp for $50 and then you have a half decent system...

i know wrx stock size is 6 1/2 so i think they should fit in the back only and the front with $5 spacers. i know legacy stock speakers out of a 05 work only in the back cause the doors need spacers. i put brand new ones in my90 i got when i upgraded a 05 legacy with the upgrade speaker kit when i worked at the subaru dealer. the conector is the same and everything. just put spacers in the front and got a nice set for free. my speakers were shot. the front and rear both had no surronds and one rear cone i couldnt move which i had disconected. i might still have some in the basement.
