AGX/Pro Kit Install Done

Post by All_talk »

I got the AGX struts and Eibach Pro Kit springs on this weekend, did the brakes too, upgraded to PBR Metal Master pads.

Dropped 1" in the rear, 1 1/2" in the front, the stock back springs had been sagging just a bit so it came out great with just a bit of rake. Struts are set at 2 of 4 front and 4 of 8 rear right now, the ride is firm but not harsh. I took it out on some twisties.... BIG silly grin on my face. :-D I put the WRX 16s on just to check it out (I think it looks good), but the stock turbo 15s with my snows will go back on for at least a few more weeks.

Brakes are much better, still bedding in a bit but already more braking power, less pedal travel and firmer feel.

Nicccccce. I wonder how they feel compared to my H&R's.

Yours does look a shade lower than mine, but its hard to tell.

Tell me you got an alignment immediately after doing the strut job?

I must admit, the pre-facelifts are sexy. But the 92-94 looks so much more innocent.

I was under the impression that eibach pro-kit springs would not work on a sport sedan?

Well not sure what to tell ya cause they're working great for me :P

Eibach part# 7714.140 I believe, 04-06 WRX fitment, I needed the WRX uppper sping seats for the front and used my '91 rear tops (the later WRX has tapered rear spings like the pre-face SS).

If you have a post-face SS I think the 02-03 WRX spring set is a better match, you'll still need the WRX front tops but the rears should work with the WRX or '92+ SS tops.

I have prokits as well, and my car sits exactly like yours Gary...

Once I got all aligned and had them put -2 degrees of camber in the front, the car handles like a dream!!

How much were the brake pads btw?

Your front spring perches would NOT work on the 04-06 springs?

Why not?

Did you even check?

I've got a set of springs from an 04, and they look extremely similar to the 92-94 upper perches.

Are the Front upper spring perches the same between an 02-03 and an 04-05?

Nick, brake Pads were about $80 for all four corners.

OK, here's what I know about the springs/seat sizes...

'91 Legacy SS
Front... top 6.75", bottom 6.75"
Rear... top 4.75", bottom 6.5"

'02-'03 WRX
Front... top 6", bottom 6.5" (?)
Rear... top 6.5, bottom 6.5 (?)

'04-'06 WRX
Front... top 6", bottom 6.5
Rear... top 4.75", bottom 6.5

Note: I'm pretty sure 6.5 springs will work fine with 6.75 seats.

I'm assuming the size of the '02-'03 WRX bottom seats (?) as I haven't measured them my self, nor do I have info on '92+ Legacys

The later WRX has tapered front and rear springs (tapered springs have a progressive rates), so I used the early WRX front tops and the '91 Legacy rear tops.

Hope that helps

Quick couple questions. First just to clarify you said that the 6.5" 04-06 front springs wouldwork fine with the 6.75 front seat from the 91? But you went with the 02-03 front seats? Why? Did you have do a drill/hack job like jamal did to get his rear seats to fit, or did the 02-03 fronts seats bolt patter match up with the 91's?

Seats and tops are different things.

Seats are the upper spring perch. The top is what bolts to the car.

I measured the front hat from an 04 WRX wagon today, and it was 6.5" not 6". The 92-94 upper perches SHOULD work :)

Hmmm, is the wagon stuff different from the sedan? My front upper seats are from a '02 sedan and the springs are from a '04 sedan and match up perfect... and are 6".

???
