EXPLAIN TO ME THIS.

Post by vtrally »

Hello, I'm new here and live in Vermont. For those of you who are asking where Vermont is, its between New Hampshire and New York.

Anyway, a couple months ago I had an opertunity to buy a Mint 92 Legacy sedan L. Low Miles Very clean for 2,200 u.s. Not bad I thought. By the time I came back with the money it was gone. I was a day late. Ok, whatever. Heres the thing. I have been looking for one ever since. I have four different dealerships looking at auction for any 91-94 sedans L or above. Nothing. My question is. Where the hell are all of these cars? Dont get me wrong. I'm finding a ton of wagons, but not even that, all the wagons are auto. I have seen one sedan in my area and its a automatic. I have looked on autotradder, all over the web, everything is a wagon or a automatic sedans with fwd. wtf? Where are they? This is driving me crazy. I have the money and nothing to buy. Are you guys having the same problems? Or are these cars just rare in New-England?
wont you come in for a night cap?
No thanks I dont where them.

From what I can tell, AWD manual sedans are the rarest of the nonturbo Legacies. I'm fortunate (I think  ) to have one, and I don't see many others.

yeah I'd say you are. I cant find one anywhere. I have a friend here that was like "screw it" he found a fwd auto and coverted it to 5-speed awd from junk yard parts and such. I would really rather not go down that path. Not to mention the price some of these places are asking for there cars. I'm sorry but I'm not going to pay $4,999.00 for a 94 automatic wagon with 140,000 on it.

That is seriously all anyone has around here. Wagons everywhere.
I dont know. I'm really getting pissed off about this whole thing.
My 4 places went to auction today so tomorrow I will check with them and see what they got. But I can garentee you it a couple of wagons if any subies at all. Thats what sells around here. auto wagons

Btw- I have know problem with people who like wagons. :D

Don't know if you're interested in a road trip but there are two for sale in Oregon right now.

I got mine in nearly mint condition for 4800.00. It had only one owner, was garage kept and had 88,000 miles on it. All in all, I'm happy with it although the leaky roof is irritating and needs to be fixed soon. Other than that, no complaints. Oh, it's a 4eat.

You can pick up nice Legacy AWD cars in the Northwest for 1500-2000.

I paid $2000 for my SS :D

I bet you can. Like I said I was going to pay 2,200 for that mint one
owner L. Thing was sweet. All the papers and all that sort of stuff

I would say the car I was looking at was also 98.9% rust free.
I just hope to God I find another one. Ahhhhh!

I paid $3200 for mine in 1998 with 107k on it. I bought a fwd as it was the only manual I could find that wasn't a horrible color. AWD manuals were just nowhere to be found unless they were beige or lavender and neither were even in great shape.

My '94 5MT SS was $3800 a little over 2 years ago, that was my first Subaru. Bought locally.

My '92 4EAT SS was $2000 + $500 shipping a few months ago. Came from another member of this board, I believe from OH.

....more to come! :-D

$200 for my current ride. I've since dropped about 3g into it, in various things, not the least of which were two automatics, new axles. Later, it was a 5sp, and a turbo setup, along with various associated parts. Just look for a deal, and don't be afraid to buy a good looking car that doesn't run. We can help you.

Bought my '93 L AWD 5MT in Aug 2001 for $3800 w/ 76k on it. Had minor front-end damage. Duluth is like a mini Colorado in that there are suabru's everywhere. I've seen as many as five different SS's in one day.

Theres a sticky on this i think. ANy 12 something year old car is going to hae a leaky sunroof. 12 year old rubber and sealant that has been exposed to numerous freezes and thaws, not to mention the extreme heat and cold it experiences, is not going to be in the best shape. Its normal, a pain but normal. Replacing it from what I hear isn't that big of a chore, just not that fun. But don't let a leaky roof keep you from purchasing such a fine automobile. 8)

We have a 1992 L AWD 5MT sedan in our family (was my grandparents') with 40k on it. Winestone, no rust, no problems. It was parked on our street and got hit in the rear quarter panel a month ago, but it was only body damage and I think it's all fixed now.

I just looked up all the automotive shipping companies I could find on the Internet and contacted them about shipping a vehicle and gave them the source & destination. I got quotes ranging mostly from $700-$1200, some way higher, but one was $500, turned out to be a guy that owned a Dodge hemi truck with a big-ass trailer that could hold 3 vehicles, drove it down himself.

The big thing you can save on is if you say you're open to piggyback on an existing route with a free spot when available; I had to wait a few weeks to get my car but it was worth it.
