Exhaust Problem fixed

Post by Threshld1 »

So i just recently got my hands on an 06 STI catback and midpipe system for a good deal, brand spankin new. so i swaped over the catback and found the existing muffler was some cheap muffler shop one that was .25" SMALLER than my existing midpipe. How bad do you guys think this was on my turbo?

they had to modify the flange on the crap muffler to made it even bolt to the midpipe. and then it looked like they used 2 gaskets and a bunch of copper sealent. i figure the only time i was getting any power before out of the motor when there was enough pressure to leak out past the differences in the flanges (lots of black sout on one side of the pipe)
weird thing is that it actually got quieter with the new catback

i used to have a bunch of hessitation and struggle to get up and going and not its totaly gone. the new sti catback is ~1/8" bigger on each side than my midpipe. still waiting on a downpipe to bolt up the new midpipe. all in all it sounds great, pretty mean, and more importantly not super loud and ricey. ill post pics later today
