engine dying - fuel starvation?

Post by mikem »

Yesterday I was out on my 94 NA liberty and ha driven about a mile (engine already hot on a hot day and AC running on full) and was accelerating uphill when the engine started to cough and splutter then just gave up. It felt like fuel starvation as it was a gradual dying process - not like something electrical. Anyway, I pulled over on the verge and waited a minute or so then fired her back up and all was well again. Had about a quater of a tank of fuel so cant see that was the problem - but I was going uphill. Anyone got any thoughts?? My purge cannister solenoid is not working so the fuel tank tends to get pressurised when hot but that wouldn't cause starvartion - would it?
