VHS to DVD conversion

Post by Tleg93 »

Does anyone know of a device and program that can take a video stream from a VCR and make it info a mpeg format capable of being burnt on a DVD?

Pinnacle's Dazzle will do that. You can get them at Circuit City, and they work pretty good.

My parents were using one until their hard drive failed, leading them to replace the old celly 850 they were using with a nice HP AMD X2 setup that includes video inputs and software for that stuff. It's possibly for sale.

Or just buy a DVD burner (start at around $99) and hook your VCR to it and burn away!

Yes, but you'll also need a video card with composite video input or at the very least RF (coax). If you don't already have one then they usually run around $75-$100 for ones that are any good and you can get a home burner for around that anymore.

If you want the VHS to DVD transfer to look good at all you're going to want to transfer it with composite video and not RF. RF will look rough....not that composite will look alll that good either but it will be noticeably better then RF.
