NO WONDER!!!!

Post by BAC5.2 »

No wonder so many people buy American cars! Burnouts are cool!

Image

I started at my mailbox, went about 100 feet, applied the brakes, spun them for about 20 seconds, then rolled off the brake and shifted to 2nd.

My neighbors across the street seemed a little pissed off.

I did 2 other big ones too.

Over the tranny, you can't really hear the tire squeal, or hear the exhaust THAT much. My boss said it was very very loud though. I stuck my head out the window, and he isn't kidding. Those headers make it sound CRAZY loud. Arrest me loud for sure.

I'm not yet brave enough to crank the boost past the 10psi I'm running now. At 10psi, it's hard enough to keep wheelspin in check around turns. Plus, it'll break loose on the 3-4 shift and get a little squirrley, so it's kinda tough.

I'll forever have 2 black streaks in front of my driveway to memorialize the event. I almost want to put a BAC5.2 in the corner, resize it and have that picture replace my dyno picture in the rotation.

Cheers.

It probably does. I intend to get a line-lock at some point. It'll help with both RWD fun and AWD launching.

You'll have to keep doing it as there's some kind of bacteria that eats the rubber.

I'm glad someone else understands the beauty of RWD. I want my EJ22 EA81 RWD.

My first car was a chevy nova. I definately know the joy of having RWD. And yes, burnouts are fun.

Did you weld your front Diff Phil? How did you get your car to be RWD?

When I first got my Nova, it had bald rear tires down to the threads. It even had patches of rubber missing where the cords underneath were showing. I was 16, and the car had a fairely good running chevy 350 in it. Not only that, but it was winter time with lots and lots of rain. I learned what fishtailing was all about real quick.

All in all I would say the car was too powerful for me at that stage in my life, but ironically I never got into any trouble with it. I got into more trouble in my GL10. Acutally, I got into more trouble in my GL10 than I've gotten into in my legacy. Only one ticket in my legacy so far.

the majority of rwd drifitng Ive done has been in pickups which is way too easy to do. just come in a little hot, turn in and gas it... fuck yeah. I havent gotten anywhere near opposite lock with rwd though.

Dude, my dad's brother had a 69 Nova with a 350; that bastard would lay rubber in 3/4 gears.

What happened to your GL? My friend has one of those...a GL-10 Turbo Wagon to be exact.

Yeah, I had a GL-10 sedan. I bought it with a blown headgasket, bought a longblock, and actually put it in by hand without an engine hoist. hehe

It was a great car. It had the center diff lock as well. After I got my legacy, my brother drove it around for a while. After he got his legacy the GL-10 had been through a lot. It leaked in the sunroof, and it was leaking oil pretty bad. It had a check engine light on for a couple things, and I forget what all else was wrong with it. I kind of came to the conclusion that it was going to cost me more than I wanted to put into it. I put it up for sale on USMB, but had not takers. So I eventually donated it. Actually..I even forgot to put the write off in my taxes this year. Oh well. That car took me back and forth from California to Washington I don't know how many times. At least 4 times a year for 3 and a half years. It then did it a bunch of times for my brother.

Ignore that black splotch. Camera phone can't handle that kind of light I guess. Kind of a cool picture all the same though.

OK OK.

Shitty, cellphone video but it was the best I could do. You can hear it, and see the smoke, and that's the most important parts.

http://www.thawa.net/bac52/Video/rwdlaunch.3g2

You need the latest free-version of Quicktime to view. Right-click, save-as.

That was about a 3000RPM launch. Headers, no cats, CES turbo-back.

To hear the gears and the exhaust....

Sounds real cool, dont it? I think the exhaust note is ridiculous. I couldn't hear it, so I let my buddy drive the car for a few passes. I did the launch, but the driveby, he did. It sounds cool!

Loud as all getout though. Arrest me loud.

It's cool that you can see the smoke in the video!

Awesome, man. Reminds me of my high-school car. Man, with RWD and the brain of a high-school guy, every carpool home from high-school was a drift fest. I didn't even know there was a "thing" called drifting, we just did it cause it was fun

We're RWD fans here, too. This is my ranking of fun:
1) AWD on dirt, snow, rain
2) RWD on tarmac
3) RWD on dirt, snow, rain
4) AWD on tarmac
5) FWD anywhere - bad bad bad

If I thought I would stay on tarmac all the time, I would love to have an RWD car.

Haha, that's great. I've never heard a subie chirp 'em in second gear..if that's what I heard. That's incredible dude, it makes me jealous. :)
But at the same time, it makes me want to hold on to my '91.
