blue little connector and solenoid.....

so on my stock intake manifold wiring harness there is a blue connector that connects to some kind of solenoid, on this solenoid there are two ports obviously for vacuum something? im not sure what it connects to. but do i even need it? its really small blue cubic inch big. any ideas? its a 93 ss, but i am putting on a new ej20g manifold and heads

it sounds like the canister purge solenoid. you dont have to connect the vaccum lines to it, you just need to plug it in to keep away CELs
