Gapless rings over stockers?

Post by bmxpunk »

Who has used them?
how about with stock pistons?
What brand is a good one to use? total seal?

Are there any disadvantages to using these over stock?

I am really interested and my block is finally getting bored so I am trying to get pistons and all of my internals lines out

rings

I have always used stock style rings (hand file gapped) in all my builds. I do not think the gapless style really adds that much value. All of the surface area in contact with both the pistons ring groove and the cylinder wall is bound to cause far more pressure loss than a few staggered gaps in the rings.

Be sure to open the bottom gaps of the rings larger than the top ring. This is supposed to aid in any pressure making its way through without causing ring flutter.
