A guy I work with does bodywork/painting-I've seen his other work and its pretty damn good, so he said he could hook me up with work for very cheap. I could get all the body work taken care of-dents, dings, rust, etc and have the whole car painted for about $600-$700 and closer to $1000 to get it jammed and to pull the engine and paint the engine bay.
My paint is in pretty decent condition but it is 13 years old and the previous owner generously gave me a few decent dents and left it outside in a hailstorm or something.
My friend was suggesting I paint it like a metallic black with some blue-so in certain lighting it would look like a dark blue, he and all the other co-workers are big into that idea because he did it on another car and it looks pretty amazing.
So, what to do?

My brother in law has a black '92 SS. It looks awesome! I'd definately suggest black. And if you are gonna go with black why not the black pearl color that Subaru uses on the STI. Thats an awesome color!

Java black pearl!
Maybe even sedona red pearl, if you like red cars.
On that note, though, I personally think the winestone is a very luxurious and distinguished color. Its classy and catching without being overstated. I'm rocking a winestone trunk lid right now, so I see it a lot, and the more I look at it, the more I like it.

i like black too.
and that is how i voted.
however, if you use black the body work will have to be perfect or every little flaw will really stand out.
a nice white like the alpine white on the SSs will cover up the flaws a bit better and look really awesome too. especially if you black out the chrome strip on the molding.

Thanks for the responses guys, I agree with you Tristan, the winestone is growing on me...but I really like the idea of getting the car that metallic black like the STi to be paired nicely with black (or possibly gold? or gunmetal, still not sure haha) powdercoated WRX rims. Oh and that chrome strip is going bye-bye for sure.
