Blow thru MAF + boost = problems.....

Post by douglas vincent »

1st - Blow thru on Jecs MAF can blow the top of the MAF off. I was leaking 2 psi through the top of mine.

2nd - Trying to clamp a hose to the MAF is difficult, especially if its a plumbing reducer. I can't keep it on at 13 psi between shifts where piping boost spikes.

Are you talking about clamping onto the back of the maf, or the front via an adapter?

BAck of the MAF. I blew it off again at the track. I got a sweet 1.86 60' then popped it off and called it a night.

I fixed it today by drilling 11 small holed around the diameter and installing pan head screws and then grinding off the screws on the inside. This became my lip. Now it doesnt pop off!

But I now found the next weakest link and popped it off at 13 psi on an onramp 20 minutes ago. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHaH

I may or may not switch back to the JEC maf. Right now I swapped back to the Aluminium MAF and it runs fine. I just need to do some tuning for better milage now.

try making a bolt on strap to hold the pipes together at each end. My new setup will use the Jecs in blow though, I never though this would be a problem, but maybe I shuld just build this right in. With any luck I'll be swapping the engine in by next week. Shit's just been so busy around here.
