That doesn't look too bad.

Just take your time making sure everything is REALLY smooth and it should turn out okay.

It needs a bit more bondo in a couple places, some more sanding, another coat of paint and a coat of clearcoat, but here it is:

Ii's Sunday in August, the whole board has been slow. Keep the pics coming until you are finished. It is going to look good when you are done.

The scoop sticks out more than I personally like... I prefer the stock SS scoop. But the molding job looks great.

What STi is it from?

It's not a USDM STi, that's for sure! ;)

I like it.

Hahaha.

Looks nice though. A little more filler and patience sanding and it'll blend in great.

The craft looks good, but l personally think big scoops terribly damage the lines of the car. Your bodywork looks good, though!

Nope...

Its exactly the same style as the 98 RS scoop, but about 3/4" taller.

Nice! I have one like that 98 RS down in the basement I got for $20 bucks. I like yours but think the RS style is a little less upright and will look slightly better from the side. Can't beat that price and the DIY. I'm going to pay to have it done tho...brave man you are...Excellent effort!

I think this is first generation USDM STI scoop. I remember people on that other board were like "WTF ?"about how upright the scoop looked. Heard something to the effect that Subaru rushed the design off a model and the designer was pissed because it was just a tester shape and not what he wanted to have go into production. The very next iteration/MY I think they fixed. Maybe someone can back me up with some facts since I was only half paying attention? STi's don't really get my attention when there are much cooler cars readily available for 1000's less $$...

Still this scoop should grab the air like a motha. Good mod!

the scoop makes the hood flex a lot at speed. I hope it doesnt crack up your bondo. i would run it for a few weeks to see if its gonna fly before i painted it.

The bondo is just there for smoothness, the main structure of it is the longhair fibreglass

Looks good, not overly large like the newer STi scoops would.
