Thanks,

Stick with 205/55 or 205/50. If you were gonna go with a 225 width, I wouldnt go over a 45series although that is irrelevant since 225 is WAY to wide for a 6.5" rim. Reason being the sidewall gets pretty squishy with a 225, a 215 is right in the middle any may be worth a try if you find some tires with good sidewall reinforcement.
But that extra 10mm width only adds up to about another 1/3 of an inch wider contact patch. So 7.6" with 205/55 versus 7.9" with the 215/55 series. Not to mention, you gain about 1 pound going to a 215/55 over a 205/55 and you also get a slightly wider section width (sidewall to sidewall width) which in turn creates a softer sidewall.

225/55/16 doesnt fit. I have those tires on my Forester, and they rubbed when I put them on for S&G's when I was test fitting the SubZero's on the Forrester.
