Well, after getting pulled over last week for "No Muffler" (open downpipe ) I figured I'd play around with my pipes. I ghetto-fied an old flange from my '66 F-100 to attach to my downpipe, and welded some flex pipe shootin' out the side midway of my pass. door.
With downpipe only, it sounded like a V8. Adding 1.5ft of pipe quieted it down quite a bit. Now it sounds like an oldschool single prop airplane. Or maybe like a straight-piped straight six. Weird. I prefer the sound of just regular old straightpipe all the way back. It was cool to try, but just doesn't sound right.

I'm currently in the process of a frame off resto, of which I'll be installing new exhuast. I love my truck very much, so no, you can't have it! I think it's pretty cool that you asked, though!
Actually, I've got a rusty '66 4WD frame that you can have!
And for the record, that exhuast setup was only on my car for about a week. Then I took it off and ran open downpipe for a while again. Then I put my whole exhuast back on. Then I pulled it off again, and now it's back on. I'm a very indecisive person, I guess. I plan on getting a whole 'nother straight pipe made up after I get another transmission back under my car. The exhuast on currently has been hacked up and rewelded with a bunch of different mufflers in the last year or so since it was new. I actually have two seperate mufflers right now(ones a fart can).

Dang it!!. . . but good.
This is obviously a Subaru site, but if it's not breaking any rules, do you have pics of the ol' pickup?

Sweet! If I'm ever in Minnesota, I'll let ya know
And I saw you were a little indecisive about the exhaust. . . that's why I started to worry when I thought you might have taken it off the truck for no reason. . . but as long as the truck's bein taken care of. . . everythings dandy

Right on. . . I like the backyard picture best. That's a cool garage door orniment HA! You should hook it up so the lights work! And I'll take your bbq off your hands. . . the tri-legged one. I can't for the LIFE of me find one like that. Sportsman's, GI Joe's. . . heck, not even Wally world's got it! Use it for a little barbequin' at the drive-in in the back of my truck. My boyfriend says I'll get in trouble, but I gotta try And I can see your subie, too. . . it's purdy.
Anyways, it looks like you're havin fun with the restoration. It's a nice body. The classics (before 70's) are my weakspot for cars and trucks. . . so I had to say somethin. You been workin on it for a long time?

I've thought about something similar, but I don't want to cut up my divorced downpipe so I could sell it if need be in the future. An exhuast shop could fab up a new downpipe for that setup, but I'm not that ambitious about it. You should do it!
I had thought about hooking those lights up on my garage, but I never have time for something like that. And the bbq is now gone. That belonged to a friend of mine that was renting a room from me. I now have another roommate that has a C3H8 grill in that spot.
I've had my '66 since right before I graduated high school in '98. I put in a new 390(actually a 410 since it's bored 0.060") and C6 trans back then, and then I bought a much newer truck and couldn't afford insurance on two vehicles so it just sat pretty much. Then I moved to Mn 'cuz this was down in Az at the time, and I had to leave it at my parents for a couple years. Well, I finally went down and got it and parked it in my back yard(after getting big fines for tearing it up on the road when it clearly shouldn't have been due to no registration or insurance ). There it sat for a couple more years until I decided to take it apart to give it some attention she deserves. Other projects keep coming and going, but I still have my '66.
