My friend... anything is possible... just depends on your budget...
But really, I see that your engine has a lot of miles er.. Km so I would recommend a rebuild before a turbo kit. The turbo kit will all depend on what kind of performance you want. The bigger the turbo/more power obviously the more money. I would say though do the motor swap... it will be cheaper in the long run.
Hope that helped a tad

PS. EJ22T motor swap... FTW!

Yes.
But you are limited to about 4 psi until you need injectors and engine management, intercooler, a lot of money.
I have gone through 3 NA motors boosted. I know the truth!

Reddevil, Awaiting new heart, will it ever happen?
1990 wagon, EJ25 12.3 @ 116.5 FAST Family wagon getting new motor soon
1992 wagon, wifes daily, high compression
1992 Touring wagon, should I keep it?

First thing is to define exactly what your looking for. If its 130 whp and you wanna spend the money on a NA/Turbo build then go ahead. Its not going to be as reliable as a true EJ22T but it'll work. Not exactly sure of the limitation of the open deck NA block but I wouldn't try pushing much more than 200 chp without some major $$.
You will probably spend less time and money on an actual EJ22T swap. Plus once you get the EJ22T in...thats when the fun begins. You get to play with upgrades.
There are some other options if your inclined. A 2.5 engine will fit in your engine bay and I have read a post of someone putting the H6 under the hood of the legacy. Or you could go the Douglas Vincent route with a Super charger...I am VERY tempted!
