What do you do for a Job??

Post by monty's legacy »

So I looked around and couldn't find a thread for this, I may have missed it due to the assloads of past topics. Sorry if it's a repost. So I'm a new member joined today and thought it would be interesting to find out what everybody did. I'm a Zookeeper at Franklin PArk Zoo in Boston MA. Will be two years this november, so if anybody has any animal questions feel free to ask.\

Midnight in a Perfect World on Amazon or order anywhere. The first book in a quartet chronicling the rise of a man from angry criminal to philanthropist. Midnight... is a distopic noirish novel featuring 'Duchess', a modified 1990 Subaru Legacy wagon.

free5ty1e, I got the impression you knew PCBs, but I didn't know that's the kind of stuff you worked on! Let me know if you need any engineering support, PCB design/fab, industrial design, etc... This would be right up my Key Tech's alley.

I'm a quasi-engineer for a biotech company that makes filters and dialysis tubing and stuff. I do testing and development of new products, design parts and machines for manufacturing, and also do a lot of drafting. We switched to Solidworks so I came up with the standards. Before everyone just used whatever fonts and colors they wanted and it was pretty infuriating.

Now all I need to do is graduate.

That's good to know, thanks. Although, between my father (electronics engineer) and I (computer engineer), we've pretty much got everything covered except final packaging and marketing -- so we work well with Griffin.

I guess you could call me the CFO of Andrewtech Automotive.

Pretty cool job to have, and I get to play with some of the sickest Subaru's you've ever seen.

It's a really really fun job to have!

My title is a little deceiving.

I'm a dock worker at a trucking company. Actually, I manage the biatch. Everything in, everything out. I maintain the company trucks. We also own another company within us that hauls pool water in converted gasoline tankers. There are 18 tankers total. I maintain those too. I sometimes help drivers make deliveries, both water and freight. I clean up the dock when needed, as well as every other menial task you can think of. I'm also in charge of maintaining our supply stock. Lots of runs to Sam's club and trucking related suppliers. I also drive when needed, though I can only drive the straight trucks and vans with my current license. I do drive the tractor-trailers, but only in the yard. I actually have more time in those than anything else. The company is moving into a new building a block away. For the last 9 months I've been back and forth between the two. I've done lots of demolition and construction, as well as everything else I'm told to do at the new place, including knocking down a 70 X 20 FT brick wall with a forklift. It needs new forks now for some reason.

All in all, I guess I'm the company bitch. I have many more responsibilities than listed, I work 50+ hours a week for 11 bucks an hour, and I get paid no overtime. I started 19 months ago working part time cleaning trucks and sweeping floors. Now I do EVERYTHING and I'm stressed out to the max from this whole moving thing. I might stick around after we're all settled and things cool down, but I've got a friend who could get me into his dad's company working alongside him.
