trans stuck in 2nd gear

I have a 91 legacy wagon 2.5i with a a/t. I have p, r, if I put it in D it acts like it is in 2nd. If i down shift nothing happens it is still like it is in 2nd gear, but if I put it in 1st it acts like it is in park.
Can anybody help me???

Have you checked/changed the trans fluid?
If the fluid is fine, your tranny is more then likely on the way out.
You can check to see if there's any codes stored in the trans computer. Instructions are on my site

Well I just coded out the trans and there were no codes. The fluid looks dark yellowish does not have a burnt smell to it. I pulled the etc fuse and I am going to try that. I also put it in 1st and actuly mashed the gas the gar does move but the engine is screaming at 3250 to get it to move.

Sounds like the trans is toast.

91 2.5i? uhh...
I'd agree with Josh. Sounds like the trans is toast.
Drop the pan and look for nastyness around that area. If you see a fine dust on the pan, you have found your problem.
The older AT's also had problems with the lower clutch seal that would cause slipping and whatnots.
