Well, damn.

Post by Manarius »

I got my car out of the garage yesterday to use for the weekend, turned on my lights and poof, my left light went out. Upon further inspection, the low beam filament of my left Silverstar bulb poofed. The high beam still worked (I chucked the bulb though). Good thing I still had my spares from when I swapped 2 years ago.

So, life on those bulbs: 1 year and almost 10 months. Pretty good for silverstars.

Second, I've got some wind noise in my passenger side front door. I'm sure that it needs a bit of cord between the gasket and the door. However, every time I do it, it makes the window not go up the whole way. What a weak ass motor, right? Any way to fix it? I notice also that the front passenger lock is also the last to lock - noting that the electrical system is a little sluggish. I've done the grounding mod with 4g wire - is there any other place I can wire in something to make the entire system a little more efficient? Maybe I can target the windows/door locks? vrg3, any ideas?

Thanks in advance for any help...

Hello. You are mentioning a problem with the window motor. I did this on mine and it helped: i removed the door trim and greased all the actuators that move the window. Its a huge difference, no more squeaks when the window opens or closes. Also the time for opening-closing is much faster.

I need to do that when I take my door panels off next.

What kind of grease did you use? White lithium?

Yes i used the white litium one. But it will probably work with any grease as long it stays on the actuators. :D
