Cleaning battery terminals.

Post by legacy92ej22t »

Anybody have a quick tip on what to use to clean up the battery terminal? I don't have one of those nifty brushes.

Would brake parts cleaner be ok?

A piece of sandpaper or scotchbrite will work just fine.

if you don't have the terminal cleaner (which is like 5 bucks from walmart) then a scotch bright pad would work. But here's something almost everyone is guilty of NOT doing.. make sure you put some "dieletric grease" on the terminal after you clean it. Also its a cheap part from almost any auto parts store, its usually on the same rack as all the silicone products (under 5 for a tube), and what it will do is keep your battery terminal clean so you won't have to do this again.

That dielectric grease--is that the same stuff that's put on the spark plugs before attaching the spark plug wires so the wires don't get corroded on the plugs?
