Tilt-Ignition-Shifter

Post by monty's legacy »

So my newish car has a new interesting issue. My grandfather (previous owner) used complain the car wouldn't come out of park, so they cleaned the break switch(exact name escapes me currently) and it cleared up the problem for a while. It happened to me a few times, and I just use the shift lock and it works fine. The other day I went to see adjust the tilt (it was in it's highest position) and now it won't go back to the high point and it sucks because I'm 6'2". But then the ignition wouldn't turn with it in it's lower point so I raised it, the ignition turned and then I had to lower it. This has become a huge annoyance very quickly and I am wondering if anybody else has had a similar issue or has any ideas, before I break down and take it to a mech. Any help will be greatly appreciated, I think thats it for now

you realize there are two adjustments for the tilt right? the "main" adjustment is way down in the back. that one adjusts where you want it. the one on the bottom left hand side is the "quick" release to let it go to the top. try playing with both.

yeah I had messed around with it. But maybe I didn't mess around enough, I am confused as hell with the other two issues. I am wondering if they are all somehow connected. But I don't know remotely enough about cars to figure that one out

Well I just really messed around with it and turns out the bottom adjustmet was stuck, so I fixed that issue. Thanks man your post gave me hope
