Hybrid pre/post facelift?

OK, so I'm trying to clear up the details of the front end. I have read lots of threads about it, and haven't gotten my question fully answered.
I want to upgrade my headlights. It seems the easiest and cheapest way to do this is to swap to the post-facelift headlights. But I'm trying to see how much I actually have to swap to do this.
It looks to me like I could swap in the hood, the headlights, and the grille from the facelift model, and leave the corner lights, fenders, and bumper from the old style. I would leave the blinkers down on the bumper so there wouldn't be any issue with those.
Has anyone done this, or does anyone know a reason it wouldn't work?

You need to swap the fenders as well....this will require swapping the corner lights.
I still don't know if it would all work though...

But why do you actually have to change the fenders? Isn't the difference just in the slope of the headlights? If all I want is the lights (not a whole facelift) do I really NEED to do those as well?

You need everything. Hood, Fenders, bumper, lights, corners, etc. Plus, you'd need some good wiring skills to wire up the new bulb system. It'd probably be cheaper and easier just to get some EDM lights from a LHD model.
Basically, it's not a feasible process.

Wiring doesn't worry me, the basic concept is the same, power/ground etc. Not too hard to splice one connector into another.

But at least they have a decent beam pattern and when they're upgraded they're better than the old ones.

Bumping an old thread... I came across a picture that suggests mixing and matching the pre/post facelift front ends is easier than we thought.

No, that car there is all pre-facelift. The fender lamps were there standard on the non USDM cars (that car there looks to be JDM).

Definitely LHD... but it looked different to me. Hmm.

Those side markers are an easy retrofit also.
