OK, dont know where i should post this, but a while back, my tranny was either fixed, or replaced, but after the guy did the work, my speedo started bouncing, only at low speeds though, here look!

He might have goofed something up when reconnecting the speedo cable.

Honestly, my car has done this for quite a few years and a few tens of thousands of miles, without anything weird happening.

Still, get on your mechanic's ass about it. That's his poor workmanship, not the age of the car.

Yeah get the mechanic to make it right. That would drive me absolutely nuts to look at.

ericem,

You may consider pulling the speedometer cable and lubing it with lithium grease.

I periodically have the same problem at low speeds - particularly when the cable needs relubing and/or it is very cold out. It would make sense that additional friction at these slow revolutions would cause the reading to fluctuate.

Good luck.

Mike

Mine has pretty much always done it. I tried lubing the speedo cable with graphite lubricant, but it didn't seem to help much.......

waaah!! so, why could this happen after the tranny change? i heard there is a lube gun attachment, that gets the grease way in there.
