Rear Sway Bar Link

Post by BoOdOg »

So I was given a legacy from a family member and came across this site. When going over bumps I heard a clunk in the rear on the right. I thought it was a strut so I went home checked it out. Appears to be a sway bar link bushing issue. Rear right sway bar link to be exact.

No local dealers are able to order this part for me. To order from the local Subaru dealer is almost 4 hrs away. So I was wondering if anyone had a part number or maybe their old one in decent shape after upgrading to aftermarket kit. Please any ideas or suggestions be great.

Thanks

What year legacy?

I'd suggest posting something in the parts shed and look for a used one. That'd be your cheapest and probably easiest route.

The 90 & 91's have a drop link style setup vs. the C link on the newer cars.

There is the bushing at the top of the link that mounts to the bar, and then there are two bushings at the bottom of the link. The link goes through the rear lateral link arm. There is a bushing on the top and bottom of the lateral link. There is a welded on bushing keeper for the top bushing, and the bottom keeper is held on with a nut.

Those lower bushings can probably be replaced with a generic polyurathane bushing from a local parts store. I believe someone else on the board has done this.
