I am looking to add an intercooler and afterwards, a boost contoller to my 92 Legacy Sport. My car is virtually stock with the exception of the air box being de snorked and a blue air filter. I am considering buying the Saab intercooler due to it being the most popular from what i have read. What i want to know first of all, what does everyone use for tubing and pipe for everything? And can i use the internal blow off valve or do i have to re route and and add a seperate one? I am also curious if someone might be selling a full set-up. I am not slow when it comes to cars, i am just new to the turbo and intercooling of them.

Top mounts are getting as cheap, if not cheaper than the saab units....

Ebay is a good source of course.

Ok, well now wthat i have ideas as to where to get one, can anyone answer my other questions? Most particularly about the blow off valve. Do i need to disconnect or bypass the built in one or simply add a second one or neither.

You prolly won't get alot of replies except to do a search.

There is a ton of info and I've spent hours pouring through it. Looks like most folks here like the various subaru TMIC's

simply put, buy a 2006 wrx top mount if you find one for cheap enough. They fit easier.

If not buy an older wrx top mount for cheap. they fit too.

No need to look for anything else, the wrx top mount is gonna be the easiest/cheapest/best bang for the buck route.

You can still use the stock bypass valve you just have to make sure when you re-plumb the lines that they are connected to charge and pre turbo sorces, and that it is positioned correctly of corse (not backwards in relation to charge and pre turbo sorces)

But if i in theory wanted to add an aftermarket BOV, all i would need to do is disconnect lines from the old and attach to the new? The intercooler in the pic below is the one i ordered, but want to make sure or a few things......Image
Is that where piping comes out of to run to the intake and the big round port in the front runs to the TB?

The two ports with the arrows take the "charged" air from the turbo, and the big single port goes straight to the throttle body via a single coupler.

And are there any modifications needed for the hood scoop to make the intercooler more effective?

And if i retain using the stock BOV, how to i block off the port on the intercooler for a blow off valve?

You have to take into consideration the limited room under the hood.
The 02-05 WRX intercooler fits but is very snug.
the 06- on intercooler is the best for size.
But either way, you have to do some modifications to the diverter valve tract to make it all work.

I found an early wrx intercooler on here that i am looking into. Do i have to do anything to the scoop to maximize the performance with a TMIC?

Well if you havent thought of it already, you must remove the scoop pan on the under side of the hood. You could also fit a wrx, or impreza rs scoop, with a bit of modification to the hood. They would allow more air to the intercooler at all speeds.

Ok now back to a previous question i had. I looked thru the DIY's and didnt find anything about upgrading the BOV/bypass or whatever it is. Is there a way to? I know that alof of intercoolers come with a port to add an aftermarket BOV to and if possible i would like to make use of it.
