manifold leak

Happy New Year!
Not so happy for me. While driving the car a few days ago it began sounding very loud. It sounds like it's in a demolition derby.:x Looking underneath with the engine running, it was obviously loudest near the right side exhaust manifold.

Starting it cold this morning revealed moisture on the manifold flange, after the gasket. :(

The left side of the manifold doesn't have these wet spots.

I'm thinking I'll have to cut off the heat shield and use high temp sealant or something.

This is closest related thread I found, but Josh's leak was at the gasket. http://bbs.legacycentral.org/viewtopic. ... haust+leak

Anybody else had this problem?

Also, the bracket that holds the front exhaust pipe to the 4EAT was broken. I think it's been like that for a while, maybe it contributed to the problem by not supporting the exhaust?
Here's my temporary replacement *cue banjo solo*

Cutting off the heat shield revealed a crack around the manifold just after the two pipes join into one.
Cheapest solution: weld the damn thing back together. The other option was buying a new y-pipe/cat for way too much money. These can't be sold used because of the cat.

You could have mine for free....but shipping probably isn't worth it.

Thanks for the offer, but I'm sure you're right about the shipping.

Update!

I got a new OEM bracket.

Only 2/5 of my temporary wire fix broke. Pretty good for over 25 days of daily driving.

In with the new.
