Noticed my car has been occasionally throwing a CEL, so I finally checked what the code was today. That was a bitch to get too, since someone re-wired my connector so it's no longer a green T-shaped one, as every guide online mentions. No one though mentions the two green T-shaped connectors to the left of the steering column kick the radiator fan on solid. In the process of hunting around for it, I apparently knocked a wire loose for my car alarm which completely disabled it! Fixed the alarm eventually.

The code was 22, so the knock sensor. Got to looking at it, and the damn sensor is loose around the bolt that holds it into the engine. Got out a socket with a long-ass extension and attempted to tighten it down, only to find out it just spins...

So looks like who ever previously installed the sensor stripped the hole. I haven't attempted to take it out yet, because I read in the Haynes manual that my coolant will drain out and I don't want to deal with that now. Furthermore, don't want to get the senor out and not be able to get it back in, since I need my car.

Suggestions?

!@#$%^&* Haynes manual. I hate them so much.

You will not lose coolant. At all. Neither do you have to remove the entire intake manifold to get to it.

You can try retapping the hole to the original size. I've retapped several holes to the original size without any repercussions.

When I tried the bolt the other day, the engine was cold. Today when I took it out, the engine was warm and there was a lot more resistance (assuming because the metals expanded). Anyways, took the bolt out to make sure it was the correct length -- it appears to be. Put it back in, starting it by hand. Got it all tightened down once again, so we'll see if it wiggles its way loose.

Took it for a 15 min drive on the highway and no codes, so lookin' good so far.

hand tigthen it and secure with blue loctite...
