Has anyone tried porting the turbine inlet of the factory VF11 turbo? It seems undersized compared to the up-pipe outlet (1- 3/4" vs 2-1/8")?
I did this on the stock tdo5 on my Galant Vr4 & had very good results (from 2" to 2.5" inlet).
If yes was it worth the trouble?

I have not with the vf11, but I WILL with the vf12 that is sitting in the garage before it goes in (I gotta get on that damnit!!)
I can't imagine that the vf11 is any different than any other turbo as far as port matching inlets goes. I've read through almost every DIY P&P thread on nabisco and the general consensus is that it is very worthwhile and will improve spool times and powa output.

I think the Vf11 is very limited in terms of maximum output, but I think porting should have positive effects on both spool-up & backpressure/EGT.
For folks wanting to run low boost this should help to expand the powerband a bit.

I have heard that when porting the td04 it increase the effeciancy a lot ! I ported the intake on mine and it spools pretty fast but I dont really have a stock one to compare it to so who knows. I would still port it it will never hurt. Oh and have fun with that snap ring !!!
One of the crazy's boosting a NA!

The Vf11 does not use a snap-ring, but the td05's do.
I was gonna port my 16g before I installed it, but my motor died so I did'nt have a chance.
The Tdo5 14-b (ported & very fast spooling) I have on my Impreza has the snap ring your talking about but it comes off quickly with snap-ring pliers.
A turbo can be ported for the cost of a carbide bit (about $20 from grainger), it is not rocket science.
I think the biggest gain should be found in match-porting the turbine inlet to the up-pipe outlet.

you say this, but I am unsure how this is accomplished, could you explain it a bit for me, or anyone else who is curious? I have one more vf11 coming in a few days, and I would like to see if I could or should try it... it sounds like another worthy mod for my project legacy.

Make a templete of the uppipe port and put it on the turbo and trace. Port inside the line , and make smooth. IE porting.
To go +1 get sand wheel as well and make it smooth. IE polishing.
